The most important thing I have found when I am cupping a new coffee (especially in the presence of others) is to make an impressive slurping noise.
An opportunity arose this week to open a packet of Kenyan Peaberry beans to demonstrate to a couple the characteristics of this particular coffee.
Cupping this latest batch proved particularly satisfying. A delicious snap of fruity acidity that danced upon the tastebuds. A light to medium body that left the mouth feeling like it had had a refreshing tonic. Little lingering aftertaste and without knowing it, we were all smiling afterwards proving that this particular coffee was an anitdote to dull anti-taste coffees that are so abundant. Roll on the Kenyans. We will be sampling some Kenyan AA and some Elephant Ears very shortly as comparison.
